Situated directly at the seaside of the majestic, 10 km long beach of Vatera, the Hotel VATERA BEACH is surrounded by foothills covered in pine and olive trees.

Our family operated hotel is proud to offer its guests the simplicity, quiet and privacy not often found in other more developed tourist areas.  Guests enjoy the traditional Greek pace of life, a relaxing atmosphere, uncrowned beaches and friendly, warm, personalized hospitality, not to mention excellent, healthy Greek - Mediterranean cooking.

All of our rooms, including two family rooms, have private WC and shower, music, direct-dial telephone, fridge, individually controlled air conditioning, central heating, mini bar, safe, hair dryer and large balconies with sea and mountain view.  Many of the rooms also have mini-cooking facilities.

We are your hosts, George and Barbara Ballis.  When we decided that
we had had enough of city life in Athens, we moved to the island and
built our hotel.  We strive to achieve a casual and friendly atmosphere
to make our guests feel comfortable and relaxed from the first moment

Born in New York, Barbara attended Antioch College where she got a degree in Biochemistry, worked at MIT in Biophysics and then as a scientific editor at Houghton Mifflin in Boston.  She got the bug, moved to Greece and never looked back.

George, who is originally from Vatera, was a well known actor in Athens for over 20 years with the National Theatre, commercial theatre, movies and television.  He has also written plays, serials for TV, articles and then became a documentary filmmaker.

We are proud of the fact that we have a very high rate of repeater guests who come back year after year.  You will find us mentioned in most recent guides to Greece and the Greek islands, and we are also very favorably reviewed in the “Rough Guides”, “Lonely Planet”, “Fodor’s”, and others.
