TAXI TRANSFERS & CAR RENTAL

The easiest way to arrive at Vatera from the airport or the harbor of Mytilene is by taxi.  There are taxi ranks at the airport and the harbor, as  well as at central locations in Mytilene and the other larger cities. Even most villages on the island have at least one taxi. 

We would suggest pre-booking a taxi once you know your arrival details, and we will be happy to help you. By this means, you know that a local taxi driver will meet your plane or ferry with a signboard, and will also know exactly where to bring you.  You will also know the price of the taxi before starting out.  You can specify a taxi with a roof rack if you have a lot of luggage, or an extra child seat if necessary.

On Lesvos, you will really enjoy having a rental car, even for a few days. There are so many interesting things to see and do, and every region of the island is so geographically distinct.  Whatever your interests, you will find so many things, from castles and monasteries, to museums and breathtaking architecture. Since so much of the island is untouched by tourism, you will find the “real” Greece everywhere you look.

Following is a sample list of cars which are available, including also small vans for up to 7 or 9 persons. Roof racks and child seats are also available.

Especially in the high season, pre-booking your car is recommended, normally for a minimum of three days.  We will be happy to help you arrange this before your arrival, and the car can be waiting for you at the airport or harbor.  It can also be delivered and picked up from Vatera. 

Many guests prefer to combine the above two possibilities by taking a taxi to Vatera upon arrival, relaxing for a day or two after their trip, then taking a car to explore the island.
